The World of Great Harmony
When the Great Tao prevails, the world is commonly shared by all. Worthy and capable people are chosen as leaders. Trustworthiness and friendliness are practiced by every person. Therefore, people do not treat only their parents as parents, and they do not treat only their children as children. There is a proper end for the aged; there is employment for the adults; and there is growth for the children. Widowers, widows, orphans, ones who are alone, the disabled, and the sick are all cared for and supported. Every man and every woman has an appropriate role to play in society and in the family. People hate to see resources lying idle in waste, yet they do not necessarily keep the resources for themselves. People hate not to utilize their abilities, yet they do not necessarily act out of self-interest. Thus, intrigues and conspiracies do not arise; stealing and robbery do not occur; and therefore doors need never be locked. These characteristics are of a world of Great Harmony.
